The Medicare Part D prescription drug plan will begin Jan. 1 for those who have already enrolled and those on Medicaid. Over the past few days, several states have abandoned their state drug plans in favor of the federal programs.
The hotly debated and long-awaited Prescription Drug Coverage for seniors through Medicare Part D will go into effect Jan. 1. The plan includes low income assistance for seniors with limited income and resources of less than $11,500 for singles and $23,000 for couples, based on 2004 tax return figures.
